I designed this course to mirror the structure of a published research article, following the order in which its sections typically appear, from the title through to the references.
That said, as I emphasize throughout the course, when it comes to actually writing up a study, I strongly recommend starting with the Method and Results sections. These sections are largely technical, which makes them easier to write first. While they do require careful organization, clarity, and attention to detail, they are generally more straightforward and can give you a strong sense of progress and accomplishment early on.
My recommendation, therefore, is this: follow the course in the order in which it is presented, so you gain a solid understanding of how a manuscript is structured and what information belongs in each section. Then, when you begin writing your own work, start with the Method and Results sections and enjoy watching your manuscript gradually take shape.
